Hoax Goes Viral ? Be Smart !!

According to Werme (2016), Hoax or deception is false news that provide information that intentionally misleads people and has a certain political agenda. Hoaks are not just misleading, information in false news also has no factual basis, but is presented as if they are supporting facts, and not a few people who believe the hoax news such as Great Deception of the Moon in 1835 and the Cardiff Giant. There are some reason that affect people easily believe fake news.

To start off it, most people just read the title without reading the entire contents of the news, taken from research conducted by DailySocial.id, a technology blog from Jakarta, in collaboration with the Jakpat Cellular Survey Platform. Researching the distribution of hoax content in digital platforms to 2,032 respondents. Noted as much as 44.19 percent could not detect  false news of all respondents involved, this study consider as much as 44.19 percent were unable to detect hoax news, readers are only interested in the title and not read the contents. Maybe people often see the titles or posts that tickle and even make furious. Howeve, no matter how interesting the title, we still need to read the entire news.

Secondly, most people are reluctant to find the truth of the news and re-verify. Presidium Masyarakat Anti Fitnah Indonesia (Mafindo) Anita Wahid said the laziness of verification and coupled with the phenomenon of the Echo Chamber. This phenomenon is a social media user who is in a similar-minded friendship environment. As a result of this phenomenon is a news compilation, someone can immediately believe it. The reason, they have received news of hoax validation from friends with similar considerations. A psychological study said that news taken from someone else will be asked according to what the news wants them to be intrigued. Well it's because they lazy to find out more because they don't understand how to verify the truth.

Furthermore, Just by flicking a feeling of being rewarded both morally and spiritually is enough to encourage many people to act quickly in processing information without finding out the truth. Based on research results by dailysocial.id, hoax news is very common in media social such us facebook platform (81, 25%), whatsapp (56.55%), and instagram (29.48%) Keep in mind that real action has more impact than just "like". Starting from the closest and the smallest around you.

Therefore, hopefully we do not too quickly to share hoax news, there is no harm in finding the truth of the information first, filter before sharing. Are you ready to explore the virtual world more wisely and always learn to be better? Let's start it !
